Unless he signs a contract extension he won’t be going anywhere on loan.

The way benny, pab and bowen have started, he'd only make our bench currently.

And they'd let him go on loan, and therefore for free, because.....

Nagel 7:42 Mon Aug 30
Re: West Ham still hopeful they CAN strike another loan deal for Man United's Jesse Lingard
because..... they'd get about £10m from loan fee and saved wages, so therefore not free. Alternative would be they do get nothing at all if he really wants to leave on a free transfer, and I suspect they might want to lower their wage bill any way they can with Ronaldo back.

If there were any legs in that I'd definitely fuck them off and wait until the next window.

Also, a loan deal would make him illegible to play against them.

I'd take Dan James, too.

In four months the bloke/asset can sign a deal to walk for fuck all
As it happens, not fuck all, they would still need pay him for the next six on top of the four
Broadly £5m up the shitter plus the loan fee
Also, they have longer to persuade him to sign a new deal, akin to that Arsenal FB we had, Chambers? Name escapes me

In any case, even if signing Ronaldo gives Man U fiscal issues, since WHEN have they ever had to do anything the authorities demand?

Crassus 8:11 Mon Aug 30
Re: West Ham still hopeful they CAN strike another loan deal for Man United's Jesse Lingard
Ronaldo came cheaply
His wage is around £26m a year
Manchester Utd will cover that and far more through commercial activity directly linked to his signature
No football club in the world cones close to their commercial reach and nous in monetising it

Re: West Ham still hopeful they CAN strike another loan deal for Man United's Jesse Lingard
Not so sure that is true. When I was working in Jakarta, I lost a bet with my other expat colleagues there and had to spent an evening drinking with them in the Manchester United bar there, picking up the evening's tab.

Not only did it look like it had not been redecorated since Munich and people had literally taken chunks of the fitted furniture away (presumably as "souvenirs"), it didn't seem to have been cleaned either, in the same period.

They lasted 2 rounds of drinks before universally agreeing that I had "paid up"* and we moved on.

* - the "paid up" bit though, only lasted until we arrived at a proper drinking hole run by a Dutchman.

I can see us getting him for 10 to 15 mill as Utd will be desperate to sell

Dad Cyril also his agent pushing for him to stay at Man U Cyril not very good at reading the writing on the wall apparently

Nagel - very good points, I hadn't thought of it like that.

If I was him I wouldn’t come. He would be a sub for us, at his age, why leave Man U unless it is to start somewhere else

Darby_ 9:59 Tue Aug 31
Re: West Ham still hopeful they CAN strike another loan deal for Man United's Jesse Lingard
I don't think he'd be a sub for us, but he'd have to play like he did during his purple patch to start.

Darby - Not so sure about that, was probably the worst of our AM last few games but played every minute.

Re: West Ham still hopeful they CAN strike another loan deal for Man United's Jesse Lingard
I don't think we are as desperate to sign him as we were when he left or as we are to sign a striker.

I'd prefer if we got a striker in and let him stay at Man Utd.

None of this "play him as a false no.9 bollox".
We need a true no.9 not a falst no.9.

Not a case of a 'false nine' just that Moyes seems to wants a striker who can rotate roles to the wing during the game. Antonio switched with Bowen several times in all three games this season, along with occasionally Benny or Fornals going up front.

Rossal 10:08 Tue Aug 31
Re: West Ham still hopeful they CAN strike another loan deal for Man United's Jesse Lingard
hope we pull this out the bag today, he is miles better than Fornals in that 10 role and gives us much needed options behind the striker

With Dan James heading out of Man Utd though be surprised if they let Jesse go to
